2024 MISSION TRIP

Christians on Mission (COM) 2024 (Windsor, NC)
October 5 – 12, 2024

WHAT: The Mission Team provides home repairs to low-income homeowners without sufficient resources to keep their homes safe, secure, and healthy. COM volunteers work with Carolina Rebuilding Ministry (CRM)—a Christian ministry demonstrating faith in action by helping local citizens while providing transformational experiences for volunteers.

WHO: Anyone age 18+ who is a Christ-centered willing servant. Volunteers with many or few skills are all welcome and needed.

WHERE: Windsor, North Carolina—about 284 miles south of Glen Burnie (approx. five-hour drive).

WHY: God calls us to action. Experience the impact serving with a team can have on your Christian walk and others around you. "Help a person in need, and you have done it to me." --Matthew: 25:35-46

COST: $75/person includes 7 nights lodging, most meals, a team Tee Shirt plus support for the building effort. Travel costs to/from North Carolina are not included.

HOW: For more information or to register, contact Bob Abel (abelrobert@verizon.net or see him OR register online at_________________???

NEED: In rural North Carolina, low-income homeowners are a large percentage of the population. Living in substandard housing, those residents face increased energy consumption, deteriorating living conditions, often poor health, and high costs for repairs that make it difficult to maintain safe, secure, healthy homes.

VOLUNTEER HOUSING: Men's and women’s bunk rooms (twin beds with mattresses), several individual showers with personal changing areas, comfortable lounging areas, kitchen and dining room. Sleeping and other rooms have individually controlled heating/AC.

TYPICAL ITINERARY FOR THE WEEK:

  • Saturday, October 5: Drive/ride to Windsor, NC. Free time (settle in/explore/meet teammates/have lunch on your own, etc.). Dinner at a local restaurant followed by time for Music/Devotion.

  • Sunday: Church service(s) celebrated together. Free time in the afternoon to explore, rest, etc. Dinner and evening devotions.

  • Monday through Friday: Breakfast at 7:00 am, pack a lunch, and off to work sites by 8:00 - 8:30 am. Lunch is at the worksites. Leave worksites around 4:00 pm to shower/clean up for dinner and evening devotions. Lights out around 10 pm, but there are areas to hang out as late as one chooses.

  • Saturday, October 12: Pack up, clean the lodging area, and depart for home.

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”  -- Isaiah 6:8
